Clock Ticking As Enfield Starts Talking Casinos In Earnest

Enfield, the latest municipality in north-central Connecticut to consider a gambling proposal, is putting the question to the community: Should the town get behind plans to put a casino into a major but aging retail mall, or combat those plans as a poor fit for the community? Town council members have arranged for a community conversation Thursday to talk about the proposal by Enfield Square Mall's management — for a 152,000-square-foot, two-floor casino as part of a possible $200 million worth of renovations at the mall. The proposal would include entertainment and food options, as well as a luxury-brand hotel. Source: Courant Website
